Details: Leader internationally in the industrial and laboratory furnaces/ovens industry is currently looking for an Engineering Manager with strong design background. Experience in metal fab and thermal processing equipment a plus. Will manage a staff of 4 design engineers and 1 clerical, reports to Operations Manager. Excellent compensation and benefits. PRIMARY PURPOSE: THE FOREMOST OBJECTIVE OF THIS POSITION IS TO ENSURE THAT PRODUCT DESIGN, BILLS OF MATERIAL, AND SHOP SUPPORT ARE COORDINATED TO ENSURE THAT EACH JOB IS ACCURATELY DESIGNED, BUILT, AND SCHEDULED TO MEET THE SHIP DATE AS PROMISED TO THE CUSTOMER. THE SUCCESSFUL PERSON IN THIS POSITION WILL POSSESS EXCELLENT COMMUNICATIONS, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS, A KEEN SENSE OF DETAIL, AND A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING METHODS. THIS JOB WILL REQUIRE BEING ABLE TO DIRECT AND COORDINATE THE ACTIVITIES OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL DESIGNERS ASSOCIATED WITH NUMEROUS PROJECTS SIMULTANEOUSLY. JOB DUTIES: PROJECT MANAGEMENT REVIEW INCOMING SALES ORDERS FOR COMPLETE AND ACCURATE INFORMATION DEVELOP A SCHEDULE FOR THE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL DESIGN COMPLETION, AND RELEASE OF PURCHASE REQUISITIONS HOLD A DESIGN REVIEW WITH SALES, MANUFACTURING AND QUALITY AS NEEDED PRIOR TO RELEASING JOBS TO THE SHOP SUPERVISE AND DIRECT AUTOCAD DESIGNERS ACT AS THE PRIMARY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT CONTACT FOR THE SALES DEPARTMENT DURING THE QUOTING PHASE OF PROJECTS ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBLE TO REVIEW ALL INCOMING SALES ORDERS FOR SUFFICIENT DESIGN INFORMATION DEVELOP ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS FOR CUSTOMER PRODUCTS USING THERMCRAFT’S STANDARD PRACTICES COORDINATE INCOMING JOBS WITH APPROPRIATE PERSONNEL DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN ENGINEERING SCHEDULE THAT INCLUDES DESIGN REVIEW, APPROVAL DRAWINGS, PRELIMINARY AND FINAL PART ORDERS, AND COMPLETED ENGINEERING DRAWINGS FOR SHOP PERFORM FINAL DESIGN VERIFICATION BEFORE DRAWINGS ARE RELEASED TO SHOP AND VERIFY ACCURACY OF “AS BUILT” DRAWINGS UPON JOB COMPLETION SUPERVISE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL INSURING COMPLIANCE WITH COMPANY HANDBOOK AND MEETING JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AS DESCRIBED IN JOB DESCRIPTIONS. DEVELOP MEANS OF PROJECT ENGINEERING TO MINIMIZE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT LABOR COSTS WITHOUT SACRIFICING ACCURACY OR EFFICIENCY COORDINATE WITH THE COMPANY’S QUALITY CONTROL FUNCTIONS DETERMINE PROJECT DOLLAR BUDGET AND DESIGN WITHIN THOSE PARAMETERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH SALES DEPARTMENT’S QUOTES AND CUSTOMER’S EXPECTATIONS DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR INITIALIZING, COORDINATION, AND EXECUTION OF ALL ABOVE ITEMS RESPONSIBLE FOR STAFFING NEEDS OF ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, INCLUDING INTERVIEWING AND TRAINING OF NEW DESIGNERS RESPONSIBLE FOR DOCUMENTING, SUPPORTING, AND TRAINING DESIGNERS ON AUTOCAD SOFTWARE AS NEEDED RESPONSIBLE FOR DOCUMENTING, SUPPORTING, AND TRAINING DESIGNERS ON VISUAL MANUFACTURING SOFTWARE AS NEEDED RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVELOPING AND DOCUMENTING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AS A WHOLE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVELOPING AND DOCUMENTING WAYS TO STANDARDIZE THE DESIGN WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT TO REDUCE TIME AND COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DESIGNING OF CUSTOM BUILT PRODUCTS
