Delfield manufactures and markets a complete line of foodservice equipment for restaurants, hotels and institutions (including prep tables, undercounter/worktop refrigeration, refrigerated equipment stands, blast chillers/freezers and mobile serving lines) and specializes in custom and reach-in refrigeration. This position is responsible for designing components and assemblies that satisfy customer's expectations for quality, performance, reliability, cost and timeliness while maintaining our internal criteria for product cost and manufacturability. In addition, this position is responsible for assuring excellence is maintained on all engineering documentation. Reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering, this position is based in Covington, TN.Essential Job Functions• Designs and Engineers refrigeration and related product mechanisms to satisfy customer expectations for quality, performance, reliability and cost• Creates accurate and complete assembly layouts and clearly detained component drawings using Pro-E• Assures the use of standard parts when developing design. Works concurrently with other designers to assure standardization of designs and tolerances• Utilizes supplies to co-develop long lead tooled part designs to assure optimized component and system cost while minimizing tooling lead times• Builds, completes and/or maintains bills of material in the MRP system• Develops detailed drawings and assembly drawings from the unit layout. Utilizes process capability to guide product design and part tolerances. Keeps the layout current as drawings are completed and tolerances analyzes. Imports from supplier database geometry for standard purchased parts. Completes release documentation• Assists in all builds including rough cut, prototype, pilot and initial production. Audits and corrects bills of material during each build.• Completes all NPD/ECR/ECN projects within specified timeline• Performs calculations to determine part fit-up, flat pattern geometry, blank size, notch sizes, material type, gauge, and fastening methods• Determines and applies principals from UL/NSF standards to equipment applications• Sources and requisitions non-stocked purchased components required to meet customer needs• May check others work for accuracy and conformance to templates with regards to manufacturability principals• Develops new and redesigns existing products based on product definition derived from leading or participating in cross-functional development teams.• Develops material specifications for new products based on functional requirementsJob Requirements/Working Conditions• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Required• Proficiency with ProE required, designing thin gauge sheet metal parts and assemblies in ProE highly preferred .J2W:CB2J2W:MON2EEO STATEMENTThe Manitowoc Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
